Community Music Project Information
We are looking for people to be involved in developing resources to enhance the musical curriculum in Coventry Schools.
Curriculum guidelines suggest that young people should have access to "music from a wide range of cultures and traditions that truly reflect the community in which they are learning".
We want to celebrate the diverse musical heritage of Coventry and are eager to hear from musicians from all communities and cultures that make up our City’s rich tapestry.
We would love to showcase music from India, Pakistan, West Indies, Ireland, Ukraine, Romania, Nigeria, Poland and The Middle East.
Initially, we would like to come out and see you play/sing/perform in your own environment and chat about the importance of music within your culture. We would then like to discuss the possibility of recording video footage that would be included in a set of resources that schools can use to showcase music being made right on our doorsteps in Coventry - hopefully this will see as many of our young children's cultures and traditions represented as possible and will, in turn, encourage more young people to take part in music lessons, activities and workshops.
If this is something you would like to contribute to then please register below. This information is also available to read this information in different languages
